Do you know an outstanding educator who deserves recognition?
UW-Madison’s School of Education has recently opened nominations for several awards that will be presented at the Partners in Education Banquet on Thursday, May 4. This is an annual event in which the School invites all of its cooperating teachers, awardees and their guests to come together for a night of celebration.
There are two sets of awards for which the School of Education is seeking nominations:
Rockwell Awards for Cooperating Teachers
Roland and Ruth Rockwell provide four awards of $1,000 each for teachers selected for their contribution to the UW-Madison field experience program. Please take the time to nominate an outstanding cooperating teacher in your school that has served UW-Madison pre-service teachers. Cooperating teachers may be nominated by their administrators, peers, university faculty and supervisors, or former student teachers.
The Roland and Ruth Rockwell Awards give you an opportunity to bring recognition to a cooperating teacher who has demonstrated:
• Exemplary teaching ability by establishing an environment that instills a desire for students to learn, bringing enthusiasm into the classroom, and putting into practice quality and successful teaching techniques, methods and goals.
• Long-term commitment to their students, the profession of teaching and their student teachers.
• Effective mentoring of student teachers by modeling and transmitting skills, professional attitudes and the love of the profession to the next teaching generation.
The nomination deadline for the Rockwell Awards for Cooperating Teachers is Friday, March 10. Click here for additional information on the nomination process.
Teacher Education Alumni Awards
Do you know an outstanding teacher, administrator or other K-12 school professional? Someone whose lifelong dedication to public service reflects the ideals of UW-Madison’s School of Education?
If that person is a UW–Madison School of Education graduate in elementary or secondary education, consider nominating him or her for a special alumni award.
The Lois Gadd Nemec Elementary Education Alumni Award, and the Robert and Carroll Heideman Secondary Education Alumni Award recognize teacher education graduates who have demonstrated distinguished service as classroom teachers, administrators or other K-12 school professionals.
The nomination deadline for these Teacher Education Alumni Awards is Friday, March 10. Additional information on the nomination process is available here
