UW-Madison’s Office of Child Care and Family Resources (OCCFR) is hosting a gathering of early education directors and supporters to examine the critical shortage of preschool teachers in the state.
A panel of seven experts from UW-Madison, Madison College, Edgewood College, and the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association will convene at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Ziemann Suite at the Waisman Center.
Those in attendance will talk about strategies to address this issue and to find solutions for the future. Topics of discussion include: student recruitment to the early education field; low teacher salaries; additional revenue sources; and incentives for staff retention.
The Office of Child Care and Family Resources promotes the academic and professional goals of the UW-Madison community through the administration of early education and family support programs. OCCFR is administratively housed within UW-Madison’s School of Education.
