The work of UW-Madison's Leslie Smith III will be featured in an exhibit called "Locus of Control" at the Maus Contemporary gallery in Birmingham, Alabama, through April 21.
Smith is a Painting & Drawing faculty member with the School of Education's Art Department.
In "Locus of Control," Smith has created a series of art, coupling oil paintings with "tangential parings" that plays with the relationship between abstraction and contemporary discourse within the broader art world.
Using this medium, Smith explores "the degree to which people believe they have control over the outcome of events in their lives, as opposed to exterior forces outside their control."
