UW-Madison's Felice Amato will perform at the Banners and Cranks Festival at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry in Storrs, Conn., on April 14-15.
Amato is a Ph.D. candidate with the School of Education's Art Department
The Ballad Institute's current exhibit is "Banners and Cranks: Paintings and Scrolls in Performance." On April 14 and 15, there will be cranky and cantastoria performances created by puppeteers, musicians and artists.
Amato will perform two cranky pieces, inspired from her research exploring the Lattimer Miners Massacre (1897) and the plight of miners now. Amato was also awarded a Conference Presentation Grant from the Graduate School to support her participation.
