Ladson-Billings to give lecture on 'Hip Hop/Hip Hope: The (R)Evolution of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy'

UW-Madison's Gloria Ladson-Billings will give a lecture on “Hip Hop/Hip Hope: The (R)Evolution of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy," on April 4 at Washington University in St. Louis. 

Ladson-Billings, one of the nation’s preeminent researchers on educating diverse students, is a professor emerita with the School of Education. She is currently serving a four-year term as president of the National Academy of Education.

The lecture will explore how technology and youth culture has the power to revolutionize teaching practices. Ladson-Billings has discussed the importance of youth culture as a missing element to factor into developing teaching strategies.
