The Spring 2017 volume of The Review of Higher Education was recently released, and this highly regarded publication features three reports co-authored by faculty members and students with UW-Madison.
The Review of Higher Education is the flagship journal of the Association for the Study of Higher Education.
Among the articles featured in the Spring 2017 volume are:
• “Turning Math Remediation into ‘Homeroom:’ Contextualization as a Motivational Environment for Community College Students in Remedial Math.”
This study is co-authored by UW-Madison Associate Professor Xueli Wang, and graduate students Ning Sun and Kelly Wickersham, all of whom are with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Wang also is a Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education (WISCAPE) faculty affiliate.
• “Data driven decision-making in the era of accountability: Fostering faculty data cultures for learning.”
This study's co-authors include Matthew T. Hora and Hyoung Joon Park. Hora is a researcher with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, which is housed within the School of Education. Hora is also an assistant professor of adult teaching and learning with the Department of Liberal Arts and Applied Studies. Park is a Ph.D. student with the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
• And Mauriell H. Amechi is a co-author of a book review examining “Student engagement in higher education: Theoretical perspectives and practical approaches for diverse populations,” by Stephen J. Quaye and Shaun R. Harper. Amechi also is a Ph.D. student with UW-Madison’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
