Roling graduated from the School Psychology program, which is housed within the School of Education's Department of Educational Psychology.

The award is given to School Psychology students whose dissertations look to improve outcomes for children and youth using evidence-based practices.

Roling's own dissertation explored whether "integrating cognitive strategies into supplemental instruction could be effective for increasing academic vocabulary and reading proficiency of English Language Learners."

Moving forward, Roling said she will pursue professional development opportunities with the funds, as well as stocking her literature library as she starts a position as a school psychologist with Heartland Area Education Agency in Iowa.
