Kelsey Dayle John will be the next speaker in the Indigenous Speaker Series, hosted by the School of Education’s Department of Educational Policy Studies, on Thursday, April 1, at noon. John's talk is titled, "The Stories They Tell About Us: Disrupting Settler Narratives of Native and Horse Histories."

On Friday, Mar. 26, the School of Education’s Department of Educational Policy Studies will host a brown bag talk with Sally Nuamah of Northwestern University, entitled “Public Perceptions of Black Girls and Their Punitive and Political Consequences,” examining this issue.

On Tuesday, Mar. 16, teachers and staff from the Madison Metropolitan School District gathered for a panel discussion to talk about leading with anti-racism in the classroom, and UW–Madison’s LaVar J. Charleston served as moderator for the discussion. Charleston is the associate dean for equity, diversity, and inclusion in the School of Education.

Timothy San Pedro will be the next speaker in the Indigenous Speaker Series, hosted by the School of Education’s Department of Educational Policy Studies, on Thursday, Mar. 18, at noon. San Pedro is an associate professor of multicultural and equity studies in education at Ohio State University.

As part of UW–Madison’s recognition of Black History Month, University Health Services (UHS) Mental Health Services will host a panel event next Monday, Feb. 22, titled “Beyond Resilience: A community conversation about the preservation, health, and strength of Black Men.” The panel will feature Chris Walker, a professor in the School of Education’s Dance Department, along with Dennis McLeod II, a behavioral health psychologist and assistant professor at Vanderbilt University.
