Description
Dr. Jaye Johnson Thiel will reflect on what she learned from opening & facilitating a community center for & with children in a low­-income, multilingual neighborhood & how this research has informed her work as a pre-service teacher education. She will share research findings from projects undertaken in the years she spent working in the community center & will provide insights on ways educators can rethink practices in early childhood education, work against deficit discourses, & become more answerable to families & children living in poverty, as well as pre-service teachers in early childhood licensure programs.
