On Wisconsin features Tandem Press visiting artists

July 02, 2019

On Wisconsin magazine recently shared an article showcasing the Tandem Press’ visiting artists program.

Swoon was a visiting artist at the Tandem Press
this past winter.
The Tandem Press, which was founded in 1987, is affiliated with the School of Education’s Art Department. The Tandem Press brings in artists who use its faculties to create editions of prints and interact with undergraduate and graduate students. The Press is one of the only professional presses affiliated with a university in the United States, and is internationally renowned, with Tandem prints hanging in museums and corporations across the country, Europe, and China.

On Wisconsin highlights recent visitor, Swoon, a mixed-media artist who came to fame as a street artist. While at Tandem Press, she made multiple works, including a multi-layered print that involved lithography, screen printing, hand painting, and gold leaf.

While in residence, each artist creates one or more prints with the press. Sales of these limited editions, according to On Wisconsin, support the Press. Although many print are sold and go on to hang in museums across the country, one print of each visiting artist joins the Chazen Museum collection.
