Brandon Jarumbo is a senior from West Allis, Wisconsin, enrolled in the UW–Madison School of Education’s Elementary Education Program. We asked him to share about his journey to becoming a teacher.
Why did you choose the Elementary Education Program at UW–Madison?
I chose the Elementary Education Program because I wanted to make a lasting difference in the lives of children for generations to come. Becoming a teacher has been one of my top career choices for as long as I can remember. I am incredibly grateful that I have had the opportunity to receive a top-tier education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Education. I hope to make a lasting impact on generations of students to come.
Why did you take the Teacher Pledge? How has the Teacher Pledge helped you?
Thanks to the Teacher Pledge, I can invest most of my time into improving my skills as a teacher instead of worrying about paying off loans that cover my tuition. I was eager to take the Teacher Pledge because I had already intended on teaching in my hometown of West Allis, Wisconsin. So, I didn’t have much hesitation when it came to committing to teaching in Wisconsin for the next few years. I highly recommend the Teacher Pledge to any prospective Wisconsin teachers. The financial weight lifted off my shoulders has made it easier for me to dedicate myself to my craft as an educator.
