Gabriel De Los Reyes, Educational Psychology

Gabriel De Los ReyesCan you share a little about your background and what brought you to UW–Madison?

I’m originally from California, but I live in West Palm Beach, Florida. As a first-year English and journalism middle school teacher, my focus was on refining my abilities and success leading a classroom. Luckily, my father came across the program (he’s always aware of valuable professional opportunities) and mentioned it to me. Given that UW–Madison is my alma mater, it made perfect sense to continue pursuing my academic studies through the prestigious MSPE program.

What are you most looking forward to at UW–Madison?

I’m most looking forward to connecting with my cohort and learning from the professors teaching courses. Also, developing research skills is essential to me.

An aspect of the coursework for the classes I’m taking entails discussing relevant studies within the field of educational psychology. I plan to appreciate and understand what my classmates are gleaning from the material we are studying together. Moreover, I’ve learned a lot from the breakout sessions in some of the courses. Hopefully I’ll be able to build on the academic relationships starting to form within the cohort.
