WKOW speaks with Cadmus-Bertram for report on staying active in cold weather
And among the people WKOW interviewed is UW–Madison’s Lisa Cadmus-Bertram, who is an assistant professor with the School of Education’s Department of Kinesiology.
Cadmus-Bertram tells WKOW that its important to get outside after being cooped up for several days, like many Madison residents were during the recent polar vortex. She notes, “The combination of cold temperatures and short daylight hours can be really, really challenging.”
She even suggests that the tundra-like weather could enhance seasonal depression.
Cadmus-Bertram and WKOW recommend getting outside and staying active before more cold weather moves in, “whether it’s taking pictures with a frozen Lady Liberty or getting out and playing some winter sports.”
