Mariah Moneda is an First Generation, Filipino-American interdisciplinary visual artist and educator, who utilizes photography to explore the intersections of her identity and as an introspective reflection of the effect of generational labor in its affect her community and identity. She creates ruminant environmental portraiture to explore time, memory, and sense of place as they relate to her own experiences and her work incorporates elements of sculpture, bookmaking, woodworking, and printmaking in the Filipino Diaspora. She is a recipient of the EdGRS Fellowship and a Master of Fine Art candidate in Photography at University of Wisconsin-Madison with her BFA in Photography from Arizona State University. Moneda was formally a photographic educator at the Museum of Photographic arts in San Diego, California, Managing Director Assistant at the AjA Project, and a Printing Apprentice at Fine Art Printer, East County Print Shop. She is currently a MFA student in the UW-Madison School of Human Ecology, as well as a guest educator at Wheelhouse Studios and Instructor-on-Record for the University of Wisconsin-Madison teaching beginning and intermediate digital and alternative photography.
