Walter Parrish III

Walter Parrish III, PhD is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the NYU Grossman School of Medicine within NYU Langone Health. He oversees the administration and management of the Office of Diversity Affairs, and provides institution-wide leadership and support for diversity recruitment, health equity education, DEI training, professional development, mentoring, and advising for underrepresented groups to include pre-med and medical students, house staff, and faculty/attending physicians.
Dr. Parrish has over 15 years of experience in higher education across various functional areas and institutional types, and came to NYU from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he spent four years in a similar role. Dr. Parrish’s dissertation explored faculty experiences with academic bullying at four-year institutions, and more broadly his research and DEI practice are centered on the higher and postsecondary education workforce, workplace and labors experiences of minoritized groups, faculty advancement, and organizational science. Walter received his PhD from the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. His bachelor’s degree is from Millersville University and his master’s degree from Old Dominion University.
