In podcast, student shares his journey from engineering to special education

UW–Madison student Jesus Cortez shared his journey from engineering to special education in a podcast from UW–Madison’s Professional Degrees and Certificates that is titled, “Pivoting on Your Educational Path.” Cortez is pursuing his master's degree in the School of Education’s Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education.

UW–Madison School of Education Wisconsin Teacher Pledge, extended through 2025-26, offers tangible step toward educator shortage solutions

The university on Tuesday announced the extension of the UW–Madison School of Education Wisconsin Teacher Pledge, which pays the equivalent of in-state tuition and fees, testing, and licensing costs for all teacher education students. In return, graduates “pledge” to teach for three or four years at a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school in Wisconsin.

UW–Madison alum Ko is president-elect of CEC division for culturally, linguistically diverse learners

UW–Madison alumnus Dosun Ko has been named as the 2022 president-elect of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners (DDEL). Ko earned his PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education in 2020. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Education at Wichita State University.

Bal delivered the keynote address for the conference, titled “Expansive Learning, Justice, and Joy: Systemic Transformation for Addressing Racial Disparities in Schools."

Madison College and UW–Madison School of Education to sign transfer agreement

Madison College students preparing to become elementary or special education teachers will have a direct pipeline to the UW–Madison School of Education thanks to a new transfer agreement that guarantees admission into these teacher preparation programs for students who meet the requirements.
