UW–Madison alum Ko is president-elect of CEC division for culturally, linguistically diverse learners

UW–Madison alumnus Dosun Ko has been named as the 2022 president-elect of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners (DDEL). Ko earned his PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education in 2020. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Education at Wichita State University.

Bal delivered the keynote address for the conference, titled “Expansive Learning, Justice, and Joy: Systemic Transformation for Addressing Racial Disparities in Schools."

Joining them in a conversation that lasted about 20 minutes was Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, UW–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, and School of Education Dean Diana Hess.

School faculty and staff reunite at traditional ‘Welcome Back Bash’

It was a beautiful late summer day for members of the School of Education community — many used to seeing each other only in boxes on their computer screens — to reunite for the traditional Welcome Back Bash for faculty and staff, in the North Plaza of the Education Building overlooking Lake Mendota, on Thursday, Sept. 2. While enjoying a full tailgate lunch, and picking up T-shirts tagged with the phrase “Lead and Inspire,” attendees took a break from their workdays to catch up with colleagues and kick off the new school year.
