Susan & James Patterson
Susan Solie Patterson earned two degrees, a bachelor of science and a master of fine arts, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Education. Sue was a captain, Big Ten Conference record-holder, and an All-American swimmer at Wisconsin. Sue is a New York Times best-selling coauthor of children’s books with her husband, James Patterson. James is the world’s top selling author of the past 20 years. Sue spent many years in advertising as an art director and senior VP at J. Walter Thompson, and is also an accomplished photographer. She currently serves on the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association board of directors and the School of Education’s board of visitors. Sue is also a member of Brown University’s president’s leadership council, a trustee at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, as well as a Town of Palm Beach landmarks commissioner. Susan and James are residents of Palm Beach, Florida.
Why they participated: As individuals we can’t stop global warming and we can’t stop pandemics — but we can get kids in this country educated. Teachers save lives.
