Leslie Ramos Escobar

Leslie Ramos Escobar is a first-year doctoral student in the Curriculum & Instruction Department at UW-Madison. She earned her master’s degree in Education at Johns Hopkins University and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and East Asian Studies from Smith College. Leslie’s upbringing and previous role as a Bilingual Literacy Coach in Early Head Start and Head Start have fueled a passion for bilingual education. She is interested in research that examines how educators and families nurture bilingualism in early childhood.  
Leslie was a teacher for 6 years in elementary schools in North Carolina and South Korea. Her classroom focused on elevating children’s strengths while making learning fun. She is a proud American Ecuadorian mother to one human baby and two fur babies.
