Instruction. He holds a master’s degree in Japanese Linguistics from the University of
Wisconsin–Madison and a master’s degree in Asian Languages and Cultures from
Rutgers University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English and Pedagogy from

Curtis’s research focuses on raciolinguistics, language education, and the experiences
of minoritized students in both K–12 and higher education. He plans to use
ethnographic research methods to examine how domestic and international students
navigate identity, belonging, and institutional expectations within campus ministry
organizations and study abroad programs. His work explores how practices such as
translanguaging and relational work, particularly within spiritual and linguistic
