Murrow, Lakind receive Campus-Wide Teaching Assistant Awards

Murrow, who earned the Capstone Ph.D. Teaching Award, is a doctoral student specializing in literacy with the School’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Murrow received this award based on her cumulative work over a range of courses. Her research interests are in the mitigation of classroom anxiety for teachers and students, and her dissertation focuses on giving pre-service teachers a voice to communicate how they feel as they progress through the fieldwork requirements of their teacher education preparation program.

Murrow has instructed a number of classes for prospective elementary and middle school teachers in content areas and English as a second language.

Lakind received the Early Excellence Award for her work with the course, “Green Screen: Environmental Perspectives through Film.” Lakind is part of a joint doctoral program between the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Nelson Institute.
