Regional High School Dance Festival coming to UW–Madison campus March 15-19
Sponsored by the National High School Dance Festival (NHSDF), this festival will be filled with performances, workshops and lectures from faculty, students, and professional artists. There will also be classes offered in contemporary technique, ballet, social and popular dance forms, somatic practice, and more.
This festival will also allow students to audition for college, university, and summer dance programs. Students will be able to meet and speak with dance faculty and teachers from college and university dance programs during the festival’s College Fair.
Participating high schools come from Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.
The festival will be headlined by Carolyn Dorfman Dance, the highly acclaimed ensemble known for emotional resonance and artistic excellence. Carolyn Dorfman Dance will be showcased on Saturday, March 16, at Wisconsin Union Theatre’s Shannon Hall.
The festival will also feature one informal concert, two student showcase concerts, and two gala concerts filled with amazing student choreography. All events are free and open to the public.
