Submitting News and Events

The Office of Communications and Advancement aims to help raise the profile of the School of Education — its faculty, staff, and students, and various units and programs.

This is achieved through a range of communication efforts utilizing the School’s website, social media accounts, e-newsletters (Insider Scoop for faculty and staff, and Red Door Digest for alumni and friends), and the Learning Connections alumni magazine.

To improve the effectiveness of the School’s communication and engagement efforts, it’s vital that the Office of Communications and Advancement stays informed of the news and events occurring throughout the School. We want to hear from you!

Submitting News and Story Ideas

Have you won an award, received a research grant, published a paper, or appeared in a media report? Is your work making a difference in the local community, around Wisconsin, or across the world? These are only a few examples of the types of stories we like to write up and share out. In a nutshell, we’re interested in helping people get a better idea of all the wonderful things taking place across our School.

Tips for submitting your news item:

  • Include a description of the news item that answers the five Ws and an H: Who? What? Where? When? Why? and How?
  • Include links for additional information.
  • Let us know whom to contact for more information.
  • Send us an image, if possible.

Sharing Your Events

You can share your department or unit’s events on the UW–Madison and School of Education websites by adding them to the campus events calendar at Be sure to tag “School of Education” and the hosting unit(s)/department(s) to ensure that the event shows up on the appropriate campus and School of Education web pages.

Please be advised that it often takes a few days for event posts to be approved and published.

If you have questions (for instance, on what tags to use), or if you want to recommend your event for inclusion in the Insider Scoop e-newsletter for faculty and staff, or want us to share your event on our social platforms, please contact:
