Welcome to the School of Education! We’re excited that you’re interested in studying one of our programs — we’ve got a broad variety of majors and certificates to support our students’ career goals and aspirations. To become a student in a School of Education program, you must apply to both UW–Madison and your program of interest. Scan the boxes below to learn more about our majors, including some specific application information. This can help guide your conversation with an academic advisor.
UW–Madison encourages education that reaches beyond the classroom to enhance all areas of life. We urge students to take advantage of experiences like study abroad, student organizations, hands-on internships, undergraduate research opportunities, and more. Students leave here feeling deeply connected with the world around them, and with the knowledge and skills to help make a difference both personally and professionally.
Checklist for applying to a program
For many of our majors or certificates, you can apply or declare your major whenever you like throughout the year or throughout your campus experience. Some programs have specific application periods and admit one to two times per year. Browsing the details below or speaking with an advisor can be an easy way to navigate this process. We’re always available to help with any questions!
