UW–Madison School of Education unveils bold new program to invest in Wisconsin’s future teachers

The Teacher Pledge provides financial support — including up to in-state tuition, fees, and testing certification costs — for students enrolled in one of the School’s teacher education programs. In return, after graduating the students “pledge” to teach for three or four years at a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school in Wisconsin. Students who go on to teach in a high-need district or in a high-need subject area will fulfill their obligation in three years, while all others will do so in four.

UW–Madison announces Smart Restart plan to reopen in fall

The University of Wisconsin–Madison plans to begin fall classes as scheduled on Sept. 2 and offer in-person instruction in many courses until the Thanksgiving recess, the university announced on Wednesday, June 17. Dancing at a distance: During trying times, Li Chiao-Ping focusing on the positives

UW–Madison’s Li Chiao-Ping, a Vilas Research Professor with the School of Education’s Dance Department, is teaching two advanced-level, studio dance classes this semester. And while there have been plenty of bumps in the road, Li remains upbeat, explaining: “The quality of the work our students are producing is very high — and in some ways even better than before. Despite all of the challenges, they are rising to a new level and it’s making them be more creative and think through assignments more deeply.”

Walker’s ‘Banana Man’ being performed at Dance Festival in Winnipeg

Chris Walker's "Banana Man" will be performed by Amansu Eason at the Moving Inspirations Dance Festival at the Gas Station Arts Centre in Winnipeg on Feb. 29. In addition, Walker's collaboration with Kevin Ormsby's KasheDance Company, "Facing Home: Love and Redemption," will be presented in Toronto at the Robertson Theatre March 5-6.

Dance Department presents 2020 faculty concert
