Several Wisconsin news outlets have highlighted a new partnership between the UW–Madison School of Education and Milwaukee Public Schools that aims to combat a shortage of special education teachers in one of the state’s most high-needs school districts.

This fall, the UW–Madison School of Education’s Global Engagement Office (GEO) is celebrating its fifth anniversary. The GEO is the only office of its kind on the UW–Madison campus that is dedicated to serving a single school or college community.

This past summer, the UW–Madison School of Education launched four short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs. Nearly one hundred students participated in these programs – embarking on courses to explore team building in Costa Rica, theatre in London, education in the Galapagos, and movement/sedentary behavior in Portugal.

Shining a light on their work in the classroom, an outstanding 127 student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin sports teams were named 2022-23 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, as announced by the Big Ten in June. Of these, 40 are students pursuing degrees in the School of Education.
