UW-Madison’s Charleston leading Graduate School Academy at ICBME

The upcoming 8th annual International Colloquium on Black Males in Education (ICBME) will include the Graduate School Academy (GSA), a part of the Colloquium Academies, which will be led by UW-Madison's LaVar Charleston. The GSA aims to provide opportunities to undergraduate participants that extend beyond institutional and national boundaries through presentations and workshops designed to enhance their academic and professional profiles. Charleston is the School of Education’s associate dean for diversity and inclusion.

2019 MSAN Student Conference Oct. 23-26

More than 200 high school students and their chaperones from 19 U.S. school districts will be at the Madison Concourse Hotel Oct. 23-26 for the Minority Student Achievement Network Student Conference, an annual event aimed at developing student leaders dedicated to ending racial disparities in achievement and opportunity. Launched in 1999, MSAN is a project of the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, a part UW-Madison’s School of Education.

International Colloquium on Black Males in Education Nov. 5-8 in Milwaukee

The 2019 International Colloquium on Black Males in Education (ICBME) is being held in downtown Milwaukee Nov. 6-8, with a pre-colloquium on Nov. 5. Each year, ICBME brings together top researchers, high-impact practitioners, funders, policymakers, students, and concerned citizens to engage in conversations regarding the state of affairs for black boys and men in education. The International Colloquium on Black Males in Education is sponsored by Wisconsin's Equity & Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB) at UW–Madison and the Todd Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male at Ohio State University.
