Call for proposals: Virginia Horne Henry Fund
This fund is dedicated to supporting activities related to women’s physical education, movement, and the female body in culture. This includes research support, special programs, visiting scholars and experts, new course development, and student recreation club support.
Awards are granted on the merits of the project and the connection to the principals of Virginia Horne Henry’s work — creating a campus resource dedicated to the pursuit of women’s lifelong learning skills in the areas of physical education, such as the knowledge and appreciation of women’s movement and the female body in culture.
All UW–Madison faculty, staff and student organizations are welcome to apply. The deadline for proposals is Feb. 1, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
Specific questions may be directed to Ruth Benedict, a professor with the School of Education’s occupational therapy program and chair of the Virginia Horne Henry Committee, at rbenedict@wisc.edu.
Doctoral students studying women’s physical education, movement and the female body in culture may apply directly for these fellowships. The Department of Kinesiology’s Greg Dierks, at ghdierks@wisc.edu, can be contacted for further information on these fellowships.
