Veronica Herrera

Ed-GRS Fellow

Veronica Herrera is a Ph.D. student in the Education Leadership & Policy Analysis program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on examining K-12 school policies and systemic leadership within school districts to observe how specific regulations affect students, as an Education Graduate Research Scholar (Ed-GRS). Veronica graduated with her high school diploma & associate’s degree in the Spring of 2022 and later attended Iowa State University on a full STEM scholarship the following Fall. She graduated from ISU in the Spring of 2026 with a double major in Mathematics Education and Psychology, and a double minor in HD FS (Human Development & Family Studies) and Educational Technologies.

Herrera’s research interests focus on examining K-12 school policies and systemic leadership within school districts to understand how particular regulations influence student success. Specifically, using a focus group of students from minority, first-generation, and low-income backgrounds, she strives to examine strategies that innovate academic resources and teacher readiness to improve students’ educational experiences and academic success.
Outside of education, Veronica has been a violinist for 13 years and is proud to be a 1st-generation Mexican American daughter from an immigrant family.
