Julia Kirschenbaum

Ed-GRS Fellow

Julia is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Counseling Psychology. Her research centers on trauma recovery and resilience, with a particular focus on forcibly displaced communities and survivors of conflict and collective trauma. She has also contributed to research examining long-term outcomes following traumatic brain injury (TBI) in military service members and survivors of intimate partner violence.

Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Julia worked in various advocacy and community engagement roles within the nonprofit sector. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 2019 with a B.A. in Economics and Development Studies.

Outside of her academic pursuits, Julia is an active oboist performing with various orchestral and chamber ensembles, and she enjoys cooking for friends and family.
