Elizabeth Walton, originally from Asheville, North Carolina, began attending the MFA Studio Art program focusing in metalsmithing at UW – Madison in 2026. Her observations of nature’s resilience and its ability to grow in response to its environment informs her research. Through nature, she is fascinated by the development of systems and their intentional disruption as a means of highlighting change. This research is applied through her creative practice investigating the intimacy of jewelry and its ability to facilitate interactions between the maker and wearer and viewer through one of a kind objects and limited line production jewelry, in the past available through her jewelry business, Red Ren.

She received her Studio Art BFA with a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry design from Appalachian State University and has assisted in teaching workshops at Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft and Penland School of Craft. She is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and was a recipient of the WNC Craft Futures Cohort grant awarded by the Center for Craft. Her work has been represented by several galleries including Mora Designer Jewelry, Miya Gallery, and The Bascom: A Center for Visual Arts.

When she is not working in the studio, she loves being outdoors, going on walks with friends, cooking and traveling.
