UW–Madison’s Hilyard receives best animation award at Austin Arthouse Film Festival
Screened by the Austin Film Society Cinema alongside internationally acclaimed short films, “Morning Glory” captures the essence of a single morning glory flower. This single channel video begins with a shot of the morning glory against the flower bed, and moves the viewer into the flower itself, exposing its internal structures that take on unique characteristics that create a world of its own.
“Morning Glory” is but one of Hilyard’s award-winning works.
The UK’s Slow Short Film Festival, in partnership with Tao-Films, will be distributing his experimental movie “Катюша (Katyusha)” for a limited time. This three-channel film, which is one of nine contemporary contemplative cinema pieces selected for a showcase curated by Nadin Mai, is about Pyramida, a community established by the USSR. Before Pyramida was evacuated in 1998, leaving behind a ghost town, it was the northernmost community on the planet.
