Dance lecturer AJ Juarez’s troupe advances on ‘America’s Got Talent’
A Madison dance troupe led by UW–Madison Dance Department lecturer AJ Juarez recently appeared on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” earning praise from judges and advancing to the next round of competition.
Juarez’s group, Barrio Dance Factory, was featured on the Tuesday, July 7, episode of the show. The 28-member troupe opened the two-hour program with a dynamic, 1-minute, 42-second routine set to a medley of songs by Queen. The judges were particularly impressed by the group’s energy and synchronicity.
The group previously performed the routine at the Dance Department’s “Moonshine” event in March.
The achievement was highlighted by the Wisconsin State Journal in an article headlined, “Madison dance troupe kills it on ‘America’s Got Talent.’”
