Earlier this year, UW-Madison alumnae Helen Klebesadel and Mary Kay Neumann announced that their collaboration, “The Flowers are Burning … Oceans a Rising: An Art and Climate Justice Exhibition,” would be shown in Middleton beginning April 16 as part of the Nelson Institute’s Earth Day @ 50 – Arts Initiative. Now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition is available digitally.

UW-Madison alumna Frances Wills was chosen by the New York state legislature to represent the 9th Judicial District on the state Board of Regents. Wills earned her Ph.D. from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 1990, and has spent more than 50 years in the field of education.

UW–Madison alumna Jamila Lee-Johnson received second place honors in the Dissertation of the Year Award competition from the American Association for Blacks in Higher Education. Lee-Johnson earned her Ph.D. from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2019. Her dissertation is titled, “I am Becoming": Understanding the Experiences of Undergraduate Black women at Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Elected Student Leadership Positions”
