UW–Madison alumnus Dosun Ko has been named as the 2022 president-elect of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners (DDEL). Ko earned his PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education in 2020. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Education at Wichita State University.

The work of UW–Madison’s Simon Goldberg is examined in a report from the health-oriented news website STAT that’s headlined, “What types of mental health apps actually work? A sweeping new analysis finds the data is sparse.” The report examines a meta-review paper that was published in PLOS Digital Health by Goldberg and a study team, including Sin U. Lam, a PhD student in the Department of Counseling Psychology, and UW–Madison alumna Shufang Sun, who earned her PhD from the department and is now an assistant professor at Brown University.

Andreal Davis — who has spent more than three decades in the field of education as a teacher, instructional coach, and leader — earned a BS in elementary education in 1986 and a master's in curriculum and instruction in 1994 from the School of Education.

Several individuals with ties to the UW–Madison School of Education were presenters at an INEI virtual webinar, “Language and Literacy Education: Cross-National Experiences,” that took place on Dec. 10. The webinar, hosted by the School of Education at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, invited faculty and graduate students from around the world to share their expertise and engage in discussions around literacy.

Following three years of dedicated service as the faculty director at the Morgridge Center for Public Service, Earlise Ward will be stepping down from the position at the end of the fall 2021 semester. Following her departure, she will return to her full-time faculty duties at the School of Nursing and continue her research.

UW–Madison alumna Carolyn Stanford Taylor, the former state superintendent of public instruction, is joining the leadership team of the Madison Metropolitan School District. She will serve as MMSD’s interim assistant superintendent for engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion.

UW–Madison alumna Zhalarina Sanders has created an autobiographical music video series entitled “The Light" with PBS Wisconsin, which she wrote, acted in, and produced. Originally released in May 2020, the series won an Emmy in the Chicago/Midwest region for Outstanding Achievement in Arts/Entertainment Programming.
