Alum Stanford Taylor joins Madison Schools’ leadership team

UW–Madison alumna Carolyn Stanford Taylor, the former state superintendent of public instruction, is joining the leadership team of the Madison Metropolitan School District. She will serve as MMSD’s interim assistant superintendent for engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion.
PBS series ‘The Light’ by UW–Madison alumna Sanders wins Chicago Emmy

UW–Madison alumna Zhalarina Sanders has created an autobiographical music video series entitled “The Light" with PBS Wisconsin, which she wrote, acted in, and produced. Originally released in May 2020, the series won an Emmy in the Chicago/Midwest region for Outstanding Achievement in Arts/Entertainment Programming.

UW–Madison alumnus O’Connor named ‘Educator of the Year’ by National Indian Education Association

UW–Madison alumnus David O’Connor has received a prestigious national honor for his work to change the landscape for Native American students in Wisconsin and across the Midwest. On Oct. 15, O’Connor accepted the National Indian Education Association’s Educator of the Year award at the organization’s 52nd Annual Convention and Trade Show in Omaha, Nebraska.

UW–Madison alumnus Dominic Ledesma is the recipient of the Joseph C. Beckham Award for dissertation of the year from the Education Law Association. He earned his PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2021.
UW–Madison alumna Pfeiffer named Wisconsin Superintendent of the Year

UW–Madison alumna Mary Pfeiffer was named Wisconsin Superintendent of the Year by the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA) on Monday, Nov. 8. Pfeiffer currently is the superintendent of the Neenah Joint School District. She earned two degrees from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis — a master’s in 1999 and a PhD in 2006.

UW–Madison connections abound in MOWA glass art exhibition

A number of artists with connections to the UW–Madison Art Department, housed in the School of Education, are part of an exhibition exploring 60 years of Wisconsin glass art at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, Wisconsin. The exhibition, titled “The Studio Glass Movement: The Hyde Collection,” coincides with the International Year of Glass (2022) and MOWA’s 60th anniversary (2021).
