New study examines STEM experiences of Hmong undergraduates across Wisconsin

Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) researchers are partnering with Hmong American faculty and undergraduates across the state to study and find solutions for the underrepresentation in STEM classes and the STEM workforce of Hmong Americans, who make up Wisconsin’s largest Asian American population.

UW–Madison’s Lee receives Lifetime Achievement Award from AESA

UW–Madison’s Stacey Lee is receiving the Taylor & Francis Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Educational Studies Association. Lee is the associate dean for education within the School of Education, and is the Frederick Erickson WARF Professor with the Department of Educational Policy Studies.

UW–Madison’s Apple discusses movement to ban books in schools

WBAY-TV / Ch. 2 in Green Bay utilized the expertise of UW–Madison’s Michael Apple for a report examining recent efforts to ban certain books from school libraries, or restrict access to them for younger students. Apple is the John Bascom Professor Emeritus of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies in the School of Education.

Three from School of Education are named Morgridge Fellows

Three individuals with ties to the UW–Madison School of Education have been named to the fifth cohort of Morgridge Fellows. They are: Khrysta A. Evans, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Policy Studies; CJ Greer, a PhD student in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis; and Marquel Norton, a PhD student in the Department of Counseling Psychology.
