Jackson is elected as fellow of national science organization AAAS

Jerlando Jackson has been elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), one of 13 scholars from UW–Madison who received fellowship status this year. Jackson is chair of the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, and concurrently holds the Rupple-Bascom Professorship of Education and the Vilas Distinguished Professorship of Higher Education. He also is the director and chief research scientist of Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB).

MMOCA receives significant grant supporting fall exhibition of work by UW–Madison’s Abdu’Allah

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMOCA) has been selected for a significant grant award from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts that will support a fall 2022 exhibition of work by UW–Madison’s Faisal Abdu’Allah, the associate dean of the arts in the School of Education. Abdu'Allah's DARK MATTER, opening Sept. 17, 2022, explores cultural representation and the systems of power that structure our experiences of the world.

Dance Department presents Faculty Concert 2022

The UW–Madison Dance Department, housed in the School of Education, presents its Faculty Concert 2022, featuring work from Kate Corby, Duane Lee Holland Jr., Li Chiao-Ping, Liz Sexe, and guest artist Natalie Desch. The concert will take place over two weekends, Feb. 3-5 and Feb. 10-12, in the H'Doubler Performance Space, Lathrop Hall.

Russ is recipient of 2022 Distinguished Teaching Award

Rosemary Russ, an associate professor in the School of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, is one of 12 UW–Madison faculty members chosen to receive a Distinguished Teaching Award this year. These honors have been given out since 1953 and recognize the university’s finest educators.

UW–Madison alum Ko is president-elect of CEC division for culturally, linguistically diverse learners

UW–Madison alumnus Dosun Ko has been named as the 2022 president-elect of the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners (DDEL). Ko earned his PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education in 2020. He is currently an assistant professor in the School of Education at Wichita State University.

UW–Madison’s Apple speaks with Turkish Education Association

The Turkish Education Association has published an interview with UW–Madison’s Michael W. Apple on the limits and possibilities of current educational policies and practices. Apple is the John Bascom Professor Emeritus of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies in the School of Education and has a long history of working with critically democratic educators in Turkey.

Division of the Arts announces 2022 Creative Arts Award recipients
