UW–Madison alumna Kaitlyn Wright was recently celebrated as part of Wisconsin Technology Month through the Women in Tech storytelling campaign. This initiative showcases the journeys of pioneering women in tech, recognizing their leadership, innovation, and resilience.
Wright, who earned her BS in secondary social studies education from the School of Education’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction in 2010, began her career as a high school social studies teacher. She then transitioned to her current role as technology director for Seeds of Health in Milwaukee.
Seeds of Health, a women-founded and women-led organization, is dedicated to empowering students through a comprehensive approach to education and wellness. In her role, Wright has overseen technological initiatives that help educators effectively incorporate digital tools.
Wright helps her staff embrace technology and adapt to change: “With technology you’re going to be wrong a ton, but that’s how you get to success.” She also encourages women in tech to “take up space” and share their ideas, recognizing that continuous learning is essential.
Reflecting on her journey, Wright notes challenges she’s had working in a male-dominated field, explaining that she has faced assumptions based on her age and gender.
Yet she also shares her appreciation for working in a supportive environment: “We are an organization that focuses on growth, so instead of being scared of some of that tech we really try to embrace it.”
