The UW–Madison Dance Department and Li Chiao-Ping Dance (LCPD) present “bits ‘n pieces,” Nov. 17-19 in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space, Lathrop Hall (1050 University Avenue).
This family-friendly concert is packed with humor and delight, and will feature new choreography, fan favorites, and rarely seen works by award-winning movement artist Li Chiao-Ping, the Sally Banes Professor of Dance and a Vilas Research Professor in the Dance Department. Coming fresh off LCPD’s “Here Lies the Truth” national tour, dancers Katelyn Altmann, Kimi Evelyn, Piper Morgan Hayes, Elisa Hildner, Cassie Last, Elisabeth Roskopf, and Abbi Stickels will wow audiences with their performance chops, comedic stylings, and athletic capabilities.
The program includes “strange but familiar,” “Sur La Table,” “WhatNot, You Think,” “concrete,” and one of Li’s award-winning, seminal works “Gó” — which was selected to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Arts. Also on the program are “Nuts and Bolts,” the memorable Dynasty-clad trio, and two short works from “The Knotcracker,” including “It’s a Slippery Slope” and “e-Racers.”
Following each performance, there will be a talk-back discussion with the artists and dancers, and on Friday evening, there will be a reception in the Virginia Harrison Parlor immediately following the performance.
