The UW–Madison Community Arts Collaboratory presents “Whoopensocker LIVE! Celebration of Authors” at the Madison Youth Arts Center (MYArts), 1055 E. Mifflin Street, in Madison, on June 2 at 6:30 p.m. and June 3 at 11:00 a.m.
Whoopensocker is an arts education residency program focused on creativity, expression, creative writing, and collaboration. The six-week program — which brings teaching artists into Madison schools — culminates with a performance based entirely on the students’ writing and created by professional artists. The program is part of UW–Madison’s Community Arts Collaboratory, housed in the School of Education’s office of Professional Learning and Community Education (PLACE).
The “Celebration of Authors,” a combination of sketches, songs, and physical theater, is performed for student authors, their families, and the community. The 60-minute show will showcase student work from multiple Madison area elementary schools: Emerson, John Muir, Lake View, Lincoln, Lowell, Mendota, Sandburg, Stephens, and Stoner Prairie. About 20 performers and musicians will perform a handful of pieces chosen from each school.
Join us to celebrate the imaginations of young authors! Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here.
