Jackson writes introduction to new book, ‘The Handbook of Research on Black Males’
Jackson is the Vilas Distinguished Professor of higher Education and chair of the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. He is also the director and chief research scientist of Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory within the Wisconsin Center for Education Research.
Noting that it is long overdue, Black News says this comprehensive book “acts as a … tool that can serve as a resource to articulate and argue for policy change, suggest educational improvements, and judicial reform.”
A preview of the book explains: “Drawing from the work of top researchers in various fields, ‘The Handbook of Research on Black Males’ explores the nuanced and multifaceted phenomena known as the black male. Simultaneously hyper-visible and invisible, black males around the globe are being investigated now more than ever before; however, many of the well-meaning responses regarding media attention paid to black males are not well informed by research.”
The book is edited by Michigan State’s Theodore S. Ransaw, C. P. Gause of Southeast Missouri State University, and Richard Majors an honorary professor at the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs.
