Launch celebration for Rural Education Research and Implementation Center on May 13

The RERIC launch and celebration runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the 13th floor of the Educational Sciences building. In addition to Albers and Garbacz, School of Education Dean Diana Hess and WCER Director Robert Mathieu will help host the event.

The mission of the RERIC is to conduct rigorous, sophisticated, interdisciplinary, and partnership-based research to promote positive educational outcomes for students, families, and schools in rural education settings. By developing and adapting methodological strategies and tools germane to research in rural education settings, the center will enhance the capacity of rural schools to use and benefit from evidence-based educational approaches.

RERIC will focus its research in five major areas: mental and behavioral health; teacher preparation, recruitment, and retention; STEM education; diversity; and research preparation and training.
