The Keystone Award recognizes individuals whose work provides essential support to advising, career services, and/or learning support, and who positively influence student and stakeholder experiences on campus.

Sankey has worked at UW–Madison for over 30 years in various outreach and project-based roles. For the past two and a half years, she has served in the School of Education Career Center, where she supports student internship experiences, scholarship fund administration, student and employer events, and operational processes that contribute to the Career Center’s mission.

“Lynn is a treasured member of our career services team, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every student has access to the scholarships, internships, and career opportunities they need to thrive,” wrote Jamie Macias, the School of Education’s director of career services and strategy, in a nomination letter. “Her dedication goes beyond logistics — she is a fierce advocate for equity, making sure no student is left behind due to financial or systemic barriers.”

Sankey has played a central role in launching several new Career Center initiatives, including alumni outcomes reporting and standard operating procedures. She also administers the School of Education’s internship scholarship fund, which prioritizes support for students with unmet financial need.

Several colleagues praised Sankey’s collaborative approach, advocacy on behalf of students, and commitment to ensuring smooth and equitable access to resources. She is known for her attention to detail and fostering strong relationships with students, staff, and campus partners.

“Lynn truly exemplifies the spirit of the Keystone Award,” said Sarah Schaefer, associate director of the Career Center. “She ensures that every detail is meticulously planned and that each initiative is successfully carried to completion.”
