UW–Madison alumna Hanna Kim, who earned her PhD from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Psychology in 2023, has received a Forward in Access Award from the McBurney Disability Resource Center. The award recognizes individuals who support inclusion and accessibility for students with disabilities at UW–Madison.

Kim was nominated for the award by McBurney Center staff for her work revising Ed Psych 763: Regression Models in Education, a course she taught as a student lecturer in summer 2022 and fall 2023.
The course is a prerequisite for several advanced quantitative methods courses. Kim made revisions aimed at improving accessibility, including reducing reliance on graphical materials and programming practices.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be recognized for my teaching efforts, but I want to emphasize that this achievement is the result of strong collaborative mentorship,” Kim said. “The support from past instructors, faculty and staff, and the broader teaching culture in the department all played a role.”
Kim is currently an assistant professor in quantitative psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
