UW–Madison alum Sam Coleman was recently honored with a 365 Leadership Community Choice Award by Madison365 in the category of Man of Excellence.
More than 4,100 people voted in the sixth annual 365 Leadership Community Choice Awards, which recognize leaders nominated by members of communities from across the state.
Coleman, who is currently the assistant superintendent of instruction for the Oshkosh School District, earned his master’s degree from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2019, and a PhD in 2023.
He says he is a proud School of Education alum, noting: “I attribute many of my leadership values and the impact I have as an educational leader to the learning and development I received in the educational leadership and policy analysis program.”
With over 16 years of experience in public education, Coleman focuses on improving student outcomes and equity. In 2023, he was named one of Madison365’s Most Influential Black Leaders in Wisconsin, and he is recognized for his dedication to education and leadership.
Coleman’s previous roles include chief academic officer and director of equity and curriculum.
Coleman was honored during an awards show and ceremony on Monday, Oct. 28, at the Madison Concourse Hotel.
