UW–Madison alumna Mary Pfeiffer was named Wisconsin Superintendent of the Year by the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA) on Monday, Nov. 8.

Pfeiffer earned two degrees from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis — a master’s in 1999 and a PhD in 2006.

She currently is the superintendent of the Neenah Joint School District. It is her 13th year with the district.

“This award is truly a recognition of our entire district and what we have accomplished together,” said Pfeiffer in an interview with Fox 11 News in Green Bay. “I feel so thankful to be a part of a community that is incredibly supportive of education… This honor is truly a ‘Neenah with Pride’ moment for all of us to share.”

Pfeiffer is the first Neenah superintendent to be honored with the state award since its inception in 1989.
