Nachman, a Ph.D. student with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, will serve as the graduate student representative on the board for the next two years. He also is currently a student vice president for UW–Madison’s Phi Kappa Phi chapter.

Phi Kappa Phi promotes itself as the “nation’s oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society.” It initiates more than 30,000 members a year on 300 campuses in the United States and the Philippines, with more than 1.5 million members joining the organization’s ranks since Phi Kappa Phi’s founding in 1897.

Nachman was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi in 2013 at Arizona State University, where he served as a student vice president for that chapter. In 2015, he attained his undergraduate degree in journalism and mass communication from ASU. Nachman recently served for two years as a national  representative on Phi Kappa Phi’s Council of Students, and was a recipient of a $5,000 Phi Kappa Phi fellowship in 2015.

As a graduate researcher at UW–Madison, Nachman studies the experiences of students at two-year colleges.
