UW–Madison’s Thompson receives CSES leadership award


UW–Madison’s Mindi Thompson will receive the 2021 Committee on Socioeconomic Status (CSES) Award for Emerging Leadership in Psychology from the American Psychological Association.

Thompson is a professor in the School of Education’s Department of Counseling Psychology.

CSES Leadership Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of psychologists, students of psychology, and organizations which have made significant contributions to the understanding of socioeconomic status (SES) and the lives and well-being of the socioeconomically disadvantaged.

The Award for Emerging Leadership is for psychologists who have 15 or fewer years beyond their terminating degree achievement, have made a substantial contribution to SES in psychology, and demonstrate promising professional achievement.

The award will be presented on Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 4:30 – 6 p.m., during an online ceremony at the APA’s annual convention.
