UW–Madison’s Anjalé (AJ) Welton, the Rupple-Bascom Professor of Education and chair of the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, has been appointed as co-editor of Educational Researcher (ER), the premier journal of the American Educational Research Association.

Welton will join a new team of editors including Editor-in-Chief Nicholas Bowman (University of Iowa), and fellow co-editors Olusola O. Adesope (Washington State University) and Brian P. An (University of Iowa).
“We are excited about the appointment of such an outstanding team of prominent scholars to take the helm of ER,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “Under their leadership, the journal will continue to advance its mission on a broad range of topics, including with an eye to cutting-edge, transformative education research.”
The team was appointed by AERA President Tyrone Howard after an extensive search driven by the AERA Journal Publications Committee, which is charged with making editorial recommendations to the president. As editors, the team will begin receiving new manuscripts on Oct. 1.
ER reaches widely across education research and aligned fields by publishing original research from multiple disciplines, theoretical orientations, and methodologies. The journal offers broad accessibility for major programmatic research and new findings of general significance to the education research community.
