Funding Your Graduate Education

Ph.D. and MFA Candidates

Typically, our full-time Ph.D. and MFA students are fully funded through assistantships and fellowships. Your funding will depend on your career goals, the department you are admitted to, and your area of study. Funding offers are usually included within the admission offer. To learn more about the types of funding available, you can visit the UW–Madison Graduate School funding and financial aid webpage and consult your department for additional funding recommendations.

M.S. and M.A. Candidates

There are an array of competitive funding opportunities for M.S. and M.A. candidates. As you make your way through the UW–Madison and School of Education application processes, we encourage you to utilize the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH) to apply for applicable scholarships for your area of study. To learn more about the types of funding available, you can visit the UW–Madison Graduate School funding and financial aid webpage and consult your department for additional funding recommendations.
