A new book from UW–Madison alumnus James Fitzpatrick, titled “Beyond Theories and Degrees: The Alley Smarts of Educational Leadership,” aims to inspire future educational leaders.
Fitzpatrick received his doctorate from the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 1999, and he is the retired superintendent of the School District of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He is also an assistant professor at National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois.
The publisher Rowman & Littlefield describes the book as a “must read” for anyone who has a passion for leadership. Though “it could be a blueprint for any leader in any profession,” the publisher says it is aimed at educators who wish to consider school and district leadership and provides insight into school governance at the principalship, superintendency, and board of education levels.
